The IOM Morocco mission currently implements projects in a wide variety of thematic areas through three distinct pillars: 1) Migration, Development and Governance; 2) Protection and Resilience and 3) Support to marginalized youth. The interventions within these pillars are all interlinked and require coordination and linkages between them in order to ensure one coherent approach for the mission in terms of migration interventions in the country.

Additional Gains related to Morocco mission context:
Throughout the internship within IOM Morocco’s Migration, Development and Governance (MDG) Unit in Rabat, the Intern - Project Support MDG (Migration, Development and Governance) will be immersed in a dynamic, international, and multicultural work environment within the United Nations system. This experience will provide first-hand exposure to how an intergovernmental organization operationalizes its migration mandate through coordinated programme delivery.
Working under the guidance of the MDG Programme Officer and thematic focal points, and following a structured weekly task plan, they will progressively develop practical competencies in organization, programme management, and international cooperation. This will be achieved through active contributions to core programmatic processes, including project development and monitoring, reporting, and support to resource mobilization efforts. The intern will also assist with basic quality assurance of project, reporting, and communication documents; the preparation and consolidation of inter-unit submissions; and the verification and entry of programmatic data in PRIMA-for-All. In addition, the intern will support the drafting of briefing notes and official correspondence, including communications with donors, government counterparts, and internal stakeholders.
The internship will further offer hands-on experience in strategic planning and institutional positioning. The intern will contribute to the development and refinement of institutional strategies, priorities, and workplans, while also supporting calendar coordination and the organization of key events and trainings. These may include activities such as International Migrants Day, donor visits, workshops, and conferences. Responsibilities will also include the preparation of meeting minutes and summaries of key coordination engagements.
In parallel, the Intern - Project Support MDG (Migration, Development and Governance) will have access to IOM’s internal online training platform, enabling continuous skills development. Opportunities to engage with colleagues across different duty stations including Headquarters and other IOM missions will further enhance the intern’s understanding of internal processes, inter-office collaboration, and the broader UN system supporting migration governance.
