Job Description

Mission and objectives

UNDP is the UN’s global development network, an organization that advocates for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help build resilient nations and improve the livelihoods of people. UNDP Gambia was established in 1975 as a development partner to provide technical assistance through advice, access to its global knowledge networks and financial support to implement government development frameworks to boost capacity development and promote national efforts to eradicate poverty and attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In The Gambia, UNDP supports national efforts for sustainable human development in line with the Gambian National Development Plan (NDP) 2018 – 2021 which is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development/SDGs and the African Union Agenda 2063. To deliver on its mandate, UNDP partners with key government institutions and employs different means of actions including institutional capacity strengthening, harnessing strategic linkages, support to evidence-based policy formulation, planning and implementation, resource mobilization, support to national planning processes and mainstreaming of relevant issues.

Context

The United Nations Development Programme in The Gambia supports national efforts to advance inclusive, accountable, and sustainable development under the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2024–2028. As programme delivery and visibility increase, there is a growing need for high-quality and consistent visual communication to effectively showcase results and strengthen stakeholder engagement. UNDP produces a wide range of reports, digital content, and advocacy materials that require professional design to ensure clarity, accessibility, and alignment with corporate branding standards. A dedicated graphic designer will enhance the quality, timeliness, and coherence of communications outputs, supporting the effective presentation of UNDP’s work and impact across all programme areas.

Task Description

1. Design and Branding • Develop visually engaging materials for digital and print, including reports, briefs, infographics, social media content, and visibility assets • Ensure consistent application of UNDP corporate branding guidelines across all outputs • Create templates and visual identities for campaigns, publications, and events 2. Content Production • Design communication assets such as banners, fliers, quote cards, posters, presentation materials, and knowledge products • Produce multimedia-ready visuals to enhance storytelling and stakeholder engagement • Support real-time content needs for key events and initiatives 3. Quality Assurance and Support • Provide design support to programme and operations teams to enhance the presentation of results and data • Ensure all outputs meet high standards of quality, accessibility, and usability • Deliver editable source Expected Outcomes • A comprehensive suite of high-quality visual communication products across programme areas • Strengthened consistency and visibility of UNDP branding • Timely delivery of professional, user-friendly, and impactful design outputs that effectively communicate UNDP’s work and results
