The Driver is responsible for transporting NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated
destinations when officially approved within an area, country or other location.
Generic Responsibilities
- Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents, and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved
- Ensure the safety and security of passengers, goods, and the vehicle at all times
- Respect local traffic laws and NRC vehicle and logistical policies
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and trip documentation
- Ensure the vehicle is kept in good operating condition, including cleanliness, fuel level and technical checks
- Immediately report accidents, breakdowns, damages, or maintenance needs
- Liaise with the line manager regarding vehicle servicing, repairs, and inspections
- Ensure the vehicle carries all required documents and safety equipment
- Provide logistical support during trainings, workshops, and field missions
- Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidance and procedures
Specific Responsibilities
- Drive NRC vehicles for delivery and collection of mail, documents, parcels, equipment and other materials as requested by the line manager
- Support programme teams with loading, unloading and transportation of humanitarian assistance during field missions
- Provide basic clerical and administrative support to operational and programme activities when required
- Accept flexible working hours based on operational needs; overtime is compensated according to NRC regulations
- Support movement planning and coordination in collaboration with logistics colleagues
- Perform other duties as delegated by the line manager
Generic professional competencies:
- Valid driving license
- Proven experience working as a driver, preferably in humanitarian, recovery or emergency contexts
- Experience operating in complex and volatile environments
- Demonstrated ability to handle responsibility for people and assets
- Basic knowledge of English is an advantage
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word, internet applications)
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge of the local context and road conditions in northern Ukraine
- Humanitarian-related trainings or certificates are an advantage
- Experience driving outside of Ukraine and the legal right to cross borders is an advantage
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing security and operational conditions
