Project Context and Scope

IOM works to strengthen the protection environment in Pakistan, supporting both displaced Afghan nationals as well as other at-risk individuals and communities. Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (HRRU) and the Protection Officer, and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant (Communications), the National Graphic Design Consultant will support the development and implementation of communication and visibility activities. The incumbent will contribute to the design and production of communication and visibility materials for the HRRU and Protection Unit, ensuring compliance with IOM branding and donor visibility requirements

 
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing

The consultant will be contributing to IOM’s Protection Unit, under the broader Humanitarian, Recovery, and Resilience Division. IOM works to strengthen the protection environment in Pakistan, supporting both displaced Afghan nationals as well as other at-risk individuals and communities. Through its Humanitarian, Resilience and Recovery Unit (HRRU) and Protection Unit, IOM implements activities aimed at addressing humanitarian needs, mitigating protection risks, and supporting vulnerable populations affected by displacement and migration.
Tasks to be performed under this contract
  • The objective of this consultancy is to support the production of high-quality visual communication products to enhance the visibility of IOM programmes and strengthen outreach to partners, stakeholders, and the public.

  • Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Within the framework of delegated authority and under the supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant (Communications), the consultant will: 

  • Design and produce visual communication materials including infographics, reports, brochures, standees, banners, signboards, factsheets, presentations, social media graphics, and other visibility products for HRRU and Protection Unit activities.

  • Support the layout and formatting of programme documents and publications, including protection bulletins, reports, and knowledge products in accordance with IOM branding guidelines.

  • Develop visual concepts and creative communication products that translate technical information and programme results into accessible and engaging formats.

  • Assist in the creation of multimedia content, including graphics, short videos, and digital storytelling products for social media and online platforms.

  • Coordinate with programme teams to understand communication needs and translate programme outputs into visual materials.

  • Ensure that all communication products comply with IOM media, branding, and donor visibility requirements.

  • Support the preparation of visual materials for events, campaigns, workshops, and presentations, including banners, backdrops, and digital displays.

  • Maintain an organized archive of design templates, graphic assets, and communication materials.

  • Review final design outputs including the visibility materials designed by implementing partners to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality prior to publication or printing.

  • Support the communications team in maintaining a consistent visual identity across communication products and platforms. 

  • Undertake travel in Pakistan for field coverage and support as required.

  • Systematically integrated age, gender, and diversity perspective into all activities throughout the assignment.

  • Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.

 
Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
  • The Consultant is expected to deliver the following outputs:

  • The development of high-quality communication and visibility materials showcasing IOM programme results.

  • Improved visual presentation of programme outputs, including reports, bulletins, and digital content.

  • Increased visibility of HRRU and Protection Unit activities through engaging communication materials.

  • Consistent application of IOM branding and donor visibility requirements across communication products.

  • Enhanced accessibility of programme information through visual storytelling and design.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Design, Communications, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field will be considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience in graphic design and visual communication.

  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design and visual communication.

  • Experience in designing infographics, publications, social media graphics, and communication materials.

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro) or similar design tools.

  • Experience in video editing, animation, or multimedia production is an advantage.

Experience working with international organizations, humanitarian or development agencies is desirable

Skills

  • Ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging visual formats.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain branding consistency.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Notes

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
