CIFOR-ICRAF
The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research, partnering for impact, and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.
CIFOR-ICRAF is looking for a
Consultant - GLF Fundraising Coordinator
Overview
The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF with core partners including UNEP and the World Bank, is the world’s largest knowledge-led platform on sustainable landscapes. It engages over 30,000 organizations, 154 governments and millions of stakeholders across 185 countries.
GLF connects local action with global decision-making across restoration, climate, biodiversity and sustainable development. Its work spans sustainable finance, learning, youth engagement and locally led development (GLFx), bringing together policymakers, investors, communities, scientists and the private sector.
As GLF expands its portfolio – including flagship initiatives such as GLF global conferences, Rio Changemakers and global campaigns – there is a need to strengthen and professionalize fundraising, partnership development and donor engagement across public, philanthropic and private sectors.
Duties and responsibilities
The consultant will support the development and execution of GLF’s fundraising and partnership efforts, working closely with the GLF Director and GLF Senior Strategic Adviser to expand and diversity funding sources - especially foundations, philanthropy and private sector, strengthen donor relationships, support the development of compelling funding propositions, contribute to building a strong pipeline of funding opportunities, and supporting fundraising aligned with GLF’s Strategic Growth Areas. The role combines structured fundraising approaches with proactive outreach, partnership development and the use of digital and AI-enabled tools.
Scope of the assignment:
- Strategic Growth Area Fundraising:
- Support fundraising across GLF’s seven Strategic Growth Areas (regional scaleups, GLFx, youth, finance, AI, science linkages)
- Translate priorities into concept notes, pitch decks and funding briefs
- Coordinate with program leads to align funding with delivery
- Fundraising Strategy Support: Support the refinement and implementation of GLF’s value proposition and fundraising strategy
- Donor and Partner Engagement: Support identification and prioritization of donors and partners, maintain relationships, prepare briefings, reports, and contribute to outreach. Conduct due diligence to ensure strategic and values alignment.
- Proposal Development, Content and Reporting: Lead or support preparation of proposals, concept notes, budgets, partnership materials, and donor reports, ensuring quality as well as co-creation with GLF’s programs leads and alignment with internal requirements.
- Pipeline and Opportunity Management: Support development of a structured pipeline, track donor engagement and maintain CRM systems (Salesforce).
- Events, Campaigns and Sponsorship: Support fundraising for GLF global conferences, Rio Changemakers, Community & Action, Learning and global campaigns, including sponsorship packages and outreach.
- AI and Digital Tools for Fundraising: Apply AI tools for donor research, proposal drafting, pipeline tracking and outreach. Identify opportunities to improve workflows.
- Internal Coordination and Capacity Support: Work with programme leads and teams to align priorities and facilitate workshops or meetings to improve internal fundraising processes and strengthen capacity to articulate GLF’s value proposition.
- External Engagement: Prepare presentations and represent GLF in meetings with prospective donors, in coordination with relevant team members.
