Project Research Physician (Adv#40/2026)

The Virology Laboratory of the Infectious Diseases Division conducts high-quality research and provides technical support to ongoing projects and training programs. The laboratory works on a broad range of human and animal viral infections. Beyond viral research, the laboratory also studies clinically significant non-viral microorganisms. The laboratory is actively engaged in antiviral drug discovery, diagnostic kit evaluation, and clinical trials of new therapeutics and vaccines. The Virology Laboratory initiated a pilot study “Investigating Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) and Associated Factors Among Ever-Married Women and Girls of Forcefully Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN)” that seeks to address existing gaps by investigating the prevalence of common RTIs, identifying associated risk behaviours, and assessing the level of knowledge among the FDMN population.

Posiiton Descripton:

The Project Research Physician will report to Research Investigator and will be responsible to Plan, organize and monitor activities of the pilot study, collaborate with relevant department of government and international partners, supervise and coordinate the research studies to provide effective and efficient project support to enable research activities within the extent of Centre's guidelines and organizational values and guidelines. She will be involved in–

  • Understand research protocol and plan for its monitoring and evaluation to control the quality of study work;
  • Check the quality of data, specimens, and the equipment used in the study;
  • Make a weekly plan following the study protocol on how to check all records of enrolled study subjects
  • prepare weekly updates detailing the quality of the study work done as per protocol and share it with the supervisor
  • Conduct eligibility assessment, informed consent process, and enroll study participants;
  • Conduct physical examinations and take other necessary measures for the safety of the participants at the facility;
  • Conduct training at the facility level on the treatment guideline.
  • Supervise data collection, specimen collection, time to time data compilation
    Observe a certain percentage of interviews and specimen collection passively;
  • Check all equipment/ kits and validate them daily before using.
  • Conduct bacterial vaginosis test (Nugent-scoring) in the field site.

Required qualification and experience:

  • MBBS degree from a Medical College recognised by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with one year of completed internship training and a valid BMDC registration.
  • 1 Year working experience in the relevant field.
  • Candidates having knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) research, work experience in FDMN community, and speaking proficiency in the Rohingya language will get preference.

Location: Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar

Number of Positions: 01

Contract Type and duration:

  • Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Tk.66,390/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
