CIMMYT is looking for an outstanding, self-motivated, and result-oriented professional for the position of General Physician to provide timely, comprehensive, and high-quality medical care to CIMMYT staff, while promoting health, preventing disease, and ensuring compliance with occupational health regulations.

The location of this position will be CIMMYT’s headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City.

Responsibilities.

General Medical Care and First Contact

  • General medical consultations (acute and chronic conditions).
  • First aid and emergency care.
  • Prescription and follow-up of medical treatments.
  • Pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical evaluations.
  • Referral to specialists when necessary.
  • Clinical follow-up of relevant cases.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of first aid kits and defibrillators.
  • Provide support in the daily inspections of the CENDI, in accordance with established procedures.

Occupational Health and Medical Surveillance

  • Creation and updating of occupational medical records.
  • Health evaluations for specific risk exposure (chemical, physical, ergonomic, psychosocial).
  • Participation in the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Management of medical leaves and safe return-to-work processes.
  • Identification of vulnerable employees and support in workplace accommodations if needed.

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

  • Design and implementation of health campaigns (vaccination, mental health, etc.).
  • Health education workshops or talks (nutrition, stress management, ergonomics, etc.).
  • Coordination with Human Resources and Employee Well-being.
  • Distribution of informative bulletins and educational materials.
  • Support in updating the CIMMYT staff’s medical history, which will be carried out in a phased manner.

Requirements

  • The incumbent must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree as a Medical Doctor (M.D.).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Availability to cover vacations or medical leave of the Head of the Medical Service is required.
  • The incumbent must be responsible, honest, dynamic, proactive, and highly committed.
  • Current certifications in Civil Protection courses (First Aid, Evacuation, Search and Rescue, etc.), BLS, ATLS, etc., are required.
  • Proficiency in computer equipment and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Intermediate level of English (written and conversational). English will be tested, and candidate should score a minimum of B1-B2 on CEFR.
  • The selected candidate must demonstrate the following competencies: service orientation, teamwork, decision-making, and leadership in emergency situations.
