Overview

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the heart of an ambitious fusion energy project?

Join us as a Quality Technician where your goals will include:

  • Performing quality assurance (QA) activities to support ITER programs, projects and process owners to achieve quality objectives and provide expertise and support to the technical staff in all relevant matters.

The Quality Assurance Section within Quality Management Division ensures independent monitoring and quality assurance activities implemented in IO processes and executed by performers, throughout all ITER project phases, from design to manufacturing, installation and commissioning. Quality engineers are responsible for monitoring and auditing compliance with quality procedure requirements during contracts and processes execution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Carries out quality assurance activities to support ITER programs, projects and process owners to achieve quality objectives and provide support to the technical staff in relevant QA matters.
  • Assesses processes, procedures and ensures applicability during QA process implementation by performers (IO operational teams and/or IO contractors/suppliers).
  • Supports the Technical Units to assess and demonstrate compliance with applicable QA requirements, including regulatory ones as per authorization requests to put the system into service.
  • Supports the development of quality procedures, assists the process owners for their development of the process and procedures.
  • Performs quality audits in accordance with approved quality audit programs, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of the IO processes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identifies deviation and non-conformities and contributes to an effective Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) process implementation, including the analysis and the assessment of the causes (Root Cause Analysis), the identification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitors and alerts on quality KPIs and process performance for assigned processes.
  • Contributes to development, implementation and continued improvement of IT tools/quality processes/data analysis, including sharing lessons learnt.

Experience & Competencies

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance in the field of nuclear or a large construction project within complex international environments.
  • Quality Assurance: Implementing Quality Management Systems and/or Quality Assurance programs covering product life cycle scope, including design control and configuration management processes.
  • Quality Audit: Implementing quality audits for process implementation and supplier evaluation.
  • Communicates Effectively: Propagates QA requirements and processes as required, adjusting communication content and style to deliver messages to different stakeholders and levels in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Reporting and follow up of actions: Summarizing and communicating verbally /in writing on Quality matters, synthesizing significant amounts of information into a clear and concise message, prioritizing key messages, recording and ensuring their implementation based on evidence.
  • Non-Conformity Management: Implementing non-conformity processes and treating non-conformities, performing root cause analysis and ensuring effective follow up and timely closure.

Desirable:

  • Codes and Standards:
    • Knowledge of nuclear regulation codes and international quality standards latest editions such as ISO 9001; EN 19443; NQA-1; GSR part 2 etc.
    • Knowledge of ISO 19011 related to quality audit.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • The required education degree may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.

Desirable:

  • Quality Auditor or other similar inspection certifications.

  • Knowledge of these competencies may be acquired through on-board training at basic understanding level for all ITER staff members;
  • Implements the technical control of the Protection Important Activities, as well as their propagation to the entire supply chain;
  • May be requested to perform other duties in support of the project as defined by your line manager, and when relevant upon the request of the matrix manager;
  • May be requested to work outside the ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays, due to business needs - this may include on-call, shift work, etc.
  • May be requested to be part of any of the project/construction teams and to perform other duties in support of the project;
  • For staff expected to perform on-call, shift hours, or other work outside ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, the possession of a driving license valid in France is required. no commuting vehicle will be provided by the ITER Organization.
  • Informs management of any important and urgent issues that cannot be handled by line or matrix management and that may jeopardize the achievement of the Project’s objectives;
