UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.Context
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. UN Women Country Office (CO) is based in Astana, Kazakhstan aims to support to the Government and civil society organizations in the development and implementation of innovative approaches aimed at achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment, specifically targeting increasing women’s political participation and leadership, securing women’s economic rights, strengthening women's involvement in peace building, ending violence against women and a making government budgets and policies more responsive to women's needs. The Associate on partnership building works with and provides support to the Head of Office in mapping priorities, proposal development, and donor communications to help secure financial resources.Task Description

Astana is classified as a non hardship duty station and offers generally good living conditions for international personnel. The city has modern infrastructure, reliable utilities (electricity, heating, water, and internet), and a range of suitable housing options. Healthcare services are available, with private medical facilities meeting international standards. Public transportation is functional and affordable, though distances within the city can be considerable. Astana experiences a harsh continental climate, with long and extremely cold winters and warm summers, which may require an adjustment period. Russian and Kazakh are the main working languages; however, English is commonly used in international organizations. Overall, living conditions are adequate and allow for a comfortable standard of living for UN personnel No special vaccination is required to travel to Astana, Kazakhstan. Clinics working 24 hours are available in the city. There are both private and state clinics and hospitals. Pharmacies (Kazakh: darikhana, Russian: apteka) all over Astana sell many western medicines.
