Technical Assistant with Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division (Adv#37/2026)

Programme on Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Disease Division has prioritized key areas, including TB diagnosis, enhanced detection of resistant and pediatric TB, genotyping, integrated TB services, and other initiatives utilizing innovative portable radiography with artificial intelligence and laboratory-based technologies.

The Technical Assistant will report to the Programme Manager, Coordination. The position holder will perform all laboratory related tasks including pulmonary and extra-pulmonary sample tests by GeneXpert machine and other tests required by the project (MT, HIV screening, HbA1c, RBS, Spirometry etc.) in the field sites or TBSTCs. S/he will be involved in–

• Conduct sample collection and diagnostic tests (GeneXpert, MT, HIV screening, HbA1c, RBS, Spirometry) at field offices and TB DOT centers following standard protocols.
• Process and test biological specimens in accordance with approved SOPs and laboratory guidelines.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers, and data entry; prepare periodic reports for the Central Management Team (CMT) and donors.
• Ensure proper preparation of reagents, interpretation of results, safe storage of samples, and strict confidentiality of laboratory data.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, temperature logs, reagent stocks, and biohazard waste management; support troubleshooting and perform other project tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required qualifications and experience:

• SSC or equivalent, preference will be given to the candidates with 3 years Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory).
• 1 year of relevant experience in any diagnostic Laboratories; however, candidates having experience with TB services, and handling GeneXpert machines will be given preference.

Location: Anywhere in Bangladesh.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & Benefits:

• Tk. 29,308/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b.
