icddr,b Staff Clinics provide health care outpatient services, both preventive and curative, to all fixed-term national staff and their entitled dependents including spouse and children.
Medical Officer under Staff Clinic will be responsible to play a pivotal role to provide effective medical services to the employees and their entitled dependents attending to the Staff Clinic with the objective of ensuring healthy life of employees within the guidelines of Staff Clinic services and organizational values and guidelines (such as Institutional Governance Framework - IGF and Gender Diversity Guidelines).
Key Responsibilities:
The position will be responsible for following duties and responsibilities:
- Examine sick employees and their entitled dependents attending to the Staff Clinic and provide them updated treatment;
- Refer serious, complicated or chronic patients to outside respective consultant/hospital/clinic after discussion with Senior Manager & Physician, Staff Clinic;
- Enter and update SHEBA database with different data like history of illness, clinical findings, advised laboratory investigations, treatment cost related data (within the Staff Clinic) & other relevant information & give printed prescription to patients;
- Advise patients regarding personal hygiene, other preventive health measures, child rearing practice and family planning methods;
- Take active part in strengthening ongoing health education program and professional developmental activities;
- Certify sickness and fitness of sick employee through online and conduct medical examination for newly recruited employee and provide confidential report, and also carry out the periodic health checkup of regular Fixed Term staff when required;
- Follow up of hospitalized patients usually over phone and sometimes going to the clinic/hospital physically when required and responsible to handle infectious patients;
- Advise staff members over mobile phone after office hour & during week-ends when required.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
- MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with good academic records;
- Minimum 5 years professional experience;
- Preference will be given to candidates having Diploma in Child Health or post graduate training in Pediatrics from reputed Medical College Hospitals;
- Ability to recognize seriousness of ailment of patients and advise the relevant laboratory test judiciously to confirm the diagnosis;
- Ability to isolate infectious cases;
- Ability to train and supervise the Nursing Staff;

Contract Type and duration:
- Fixed Term; duration will be 2 Years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk. 1,689,000/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.2,492/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
