Mission and objectives
UNFPA BWA organization mission TBDContext
The Government of Botswana is developing the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Strategic Implementation Plan (CRVSSIP) for 2026-2030. This plan aligns with the African Union Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 16.9, aimed at providing legal identity for all, including birth registration, by 2030. Formulated by a taskforce comprising key ministries, Statistics Botswana, UNFPA, and UNICEF, the plan aims to create a robust, digitized, and inclusive CRVS system. The plan's vision is "An inclusive Botswana where every identity counts and data drives decisions". Key strategic outputs include: ● Strengthening Coordination: Developing fit-for-purpose legal, policy, and monitoring frameworks. ● Information Management: Enhancing digital systems to ensure high-quality, disaggregated data is available for policy decisions. ● Service Accessibility: Expanding registration services, particularly in remote areas, and increasing supplier-induced demand. ● Knowledge Management: Enhancing national capacity to generate and disseminate CRVS intelligence. The implementation strategy prioritizes digital solutions to streamline processes and improve data accuracy. The plan also addresses risks such as budget limitations, legislative gaps, and data integrity concerns through specific mitigation measures, including needs-based budgeting and legal reform task forces.Task Description
We are looking for two (2) Online Volunteers who under the guidance of the Strategic Information Specialist and in close collaboration with the Communications Analyst will edit, proofread, design, brand, and produce the CRVS strategy report as a PDF for wider dissemination and utilisation. In particular, the Online Volunteers are asked to: 1. Edit and proofread the draft CRVS Strategy report. In addition to a light editorial, this task will also entail rewriting where necessary to improve flow, changing text and headings to achieve parallel structures, ensuring consistent style and tone, ensuring previews and summaries reflect content, and flagging unclear or incorrect statements. 2. Design and brand the draft report. The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Strategic Information and Communications teams at UNFPA and learn about the ways in which graphic design can increase the visibility of successful interventions.Competencies and values
