POSITION SUMMARY

Based in Georgetown, the Senior Associate will support in coordinating the Finance & Corporate Services (FCS) program, encompassing finance, procurement, and administrative operations, and develop solutions to ensure the efficient execution of these processes and the commitments they entail. This will require an agile approach to work, strong organization, and a detail- and service-oriented mindset, since the Finance and Administration Associate will support both internal and external clients.

PURPOSE

The role of the Senior Associate is to 1) maintain quality control over program operations and finances; 2) coordinate and enhance capacity of Finance & Corporate Services staff in the country office;3) provide operational support and direction for new and emerging projects; 4) coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to improve existing processes, particularly regarding program financial planning and management; 5) ensure that operational processes align with the needs and requirements of donors; 6) identify opportunities to improve portfolio management and project monitoring through GGGI’s project cycle management software, as well as supporting platforms and tools; 7) maintain regular communication with country, regional, and headquarters teams to understand and identify emerging challenges and risks.

ENGAGEMENT
  • The Senior Associate will report directly to the Guyana Program Manager, work closely with Project Managers, and engage with other Finance & Corporate Services staff at GGGI’s regional office and headquarters in Seoul as needed.

  • Informs and trains Finance & Corporate Services in the country office in operational processes, including identifying opportunities for standardization and process improvement

  • Communicates regularly with country, regional, and GGGI headquarters teams to align country operations and integrate new processes and requirements that enhance project management and delivery

  • Guides and supports the team to integrate operational considerations into resource mobilization proposals

  • Collaborates with the team to understand their specific needs and requirements, and guides them in standardizing operational processes

  • Collaborates with team for strategic program development from an operations perspective in line with GGGI’s Strategic Plan 2030.

DELIVERY
  • Provides technical input in the development of robust processes for managing and tracking budget execution plans and schedules in line with yearly work programs and donor-funded projects.

  • Contributes to increase team capacity across operational functions on GGGI’s Internal systems and processes, including ERP, E-Recruitment, GGGI e-Green Procurement Portal, GGGI Online, Saba Talent Space, and CRM/Salesforce

  • Serves as the country's focal point for Finance & Corporate Services, both internally and externally

  • Supervise all Finance & Corporate Services country staff.

  • Supports the monitoring of country program performance to champion efficient and timely delivery and enhance project management.

  • Support the preparation of financial reports for donors and internal management.

  • Contribute to corporate and regional strategy development, including organizational and regional strategy, roadmaps, and work program and budget.

  • Proactively identifies project and portfolio operational risks as well as opportunities to underpin forward-looking management reporting and corrective mitigation/exploitation actions.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, economics, finance, public administration, management, environmental management, Finance & Corporate Services, or any discipline related to the assignment.

  • Academic or professional background in carrying out quantitative analyses (e.g. in the context of budgeting, financial forecasting, project implementation monitoring, etc.)

  • At least 4-5 years of professional experience in the above fields.

  • Knowledge and experience of working with government officials and development partners in Guyana.

  • English fluency and communication (speaking, writing and presentation) skills, including the publication of written material and the ability to produce high-quality visual aids

  • Working fluency in other languages, particularly French and/or Spanish, would be an asset

  • Working experience with international or technical assistance organizations that deliver donor-funded projects.

  • Substantive experience in financial planning and management.

  • Experience in procurement and improving operational processes.

  • Experience with donor reporting and enhancing operations to meet donor requirements.

  • Proven project delivery experience, i.e., administering the delivery of results within budget and on time, standardizing processes, and working with a team.

  • This position is open to Guyana nationals or those with a valid visa to work and live in the country.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Finance, Administration and Procurement Senior Associate is an X7 grade level in GGGI’s Guyana national salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 28,073 per annum, depending on qualifications, experience and internal equity. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
