Job Description

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for an Finance Officer (Accountant) in Kyiv.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Maintaining accounting records of Fixed Assets (FA) and Low-Value Assets (LVA) in accordance with Statutory Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Preparing internal primary documentation for FA and LVA accounting.
  • Running depreciation in accordance with the selected depreciation method.
  • Monitoring the useful life of FA and LVA.
  • Accounting for the internal movement of FA and LVA between departments.
  • Writing off fixed assets (depreciation, liquidation, sale, or free transfer) in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system BAF (Business Automation Framework).
  • Participating in the annual inventory of FA and LVA.
  • Reconciling the actual availability of FA and LVA with accounting records.
  • Recording statutory inventory results and reflecting them in the accounting system.
  • Providing management with information on the movement and condition of FA and LVA.
  • Writing off fuel in the ERP system BAF.
  • Preparing internal primary documentation for fuel accounting.
  • Maintaining accounting records of humanitarian aid in accordance with Statutory GAAP.
  • Preparing monthly reports on the availability and distribution of humanitarian aid.
  • Verifying documents related to the activities of the DRC Program that are submitted for payment, including invoices, acts, delivery notes, and documents related to the receipt and transfer of goods and material assets (materials or charitable assistance).
  • Carrying out the accrual and transfer of taxes and fees, insurance contributions to state extra-budgetary social funds, payments to banking institutions, and other payments.

About you

To be successful in this role, we expect you to be a strong team player. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented colleague with at least 2 years of relevant experience in fixed asset and low-value non-current asset accounting. In this role, you will work with large volumes of data in Excel, performing data sorting and analysis. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Higher education in accounting and auditing / finance / economics or 2 years of experience as an accountant in accounting for fixed assets.
  • Experience in maintaining primary documentation for Fixed Assets and Low-Value Assets accounting.
  • Experience participating in inventories of Fixed Assets and Low-Value Assets.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) and BAF.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as an accountant in a public organization.
  • Participation in the automation of fixed assets accounting.
  • Level of English Intermediate and above.
  • Attention to detail and responsibility.
  • Systematic and analytical thinking.
  • Meeting deadlines.

We offer

  • Contract length: 3 months probationary period, with 12-month extension following successful completion of probationary period.
  • Band: H - nonmanagement.
  • Designation of Duty Station: Kyiv.
  • Start date: as soon as possible.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts.
