The selection process will be conducted with the objective of filling the below vacant position with also the purpose of drawing up a reserve list of rostered candidates for future vacant positions. The reserve list initially remains valid for two years, with the possibility of extension at the Director-General's discretion.

Overview

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the heart of an ambitious fusion energy project? Join us as a Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Technician where your goals will include:

  • Performing independent NDE inspections related to assigned systems and ensuring NDE activities are properly implemented across the assigned scope.
  • Reviewing applicable NDE procedures, written practices and associated NDE records.

The Quality Assurance Section within Quality Management Division ensures independent monitoring and quality assurance activities executed by performers, throughout all ITER project phases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implements NDE procedures, methods, and techniques at manufacturing facilities and on the ITER site.
  • Reviews NDE procedures, demonstration and validates NDE reports etc. for the scope of activity.
  • Provides input for the optimization of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) during design, manufacturing, assembly, installation, and commissioning of ITER components and systems.
  • Performs routine and unscheduled NDE at IO premises, the supplier’s premises and witnesses intermediate and final NDE inspections.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to resolving disputes of NDE by authenticating or conducting NDE to verify and crosscheck results obtained during tests.
  • Improves quality culture within ITER project by supporting technical trainings on NDE methods and inspections

This position is shift and/or on-call based, and crucial to maintaining continuous operations and ensuring the highest level of service for our stakeholders. This requires shift rotation and/or availability including day, evening, and night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays, depending upon project or team needs.

Experience & Competencies

Essential:

  • Proven experience in NDE activities associated to components design, testing, construction, and /or manufacturing of pressure equipment in nuclear industry (or other high regulated industry).
  • Non-Destructive Testing: competence on specifying, planning, executing non-destructive testing activities, including maintenance of the associated equipment and tools.
  • Proven competence on preserving/ensuring quality and integrity and conformance with safety standards.
  • Manufacturing: competence on delivering materials into finished products through various techniques and technologies based on design requirements.
  • Quality control: proven competence on verifying compliance of components with applicable requirements.

Desirable:

  • Codes and Standards:
    • ISO standards or ASME codes (or other equivalent NDE standards) in UT, RT, PT and VT.
    • Knowledge of nuclear regulation codes and international quality standards latest editions such as ISO 9001; EN 19443; NQA-1; GSR part 2 etc.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Engineering master’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering field or other relevant discipline.

Desirable:

  • Certified in ISO 9712 level II or III for Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Visual Test and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing methods.
  • The required education degree(s) may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.

  • Knowledge of these competencies may be acquired through on-board training at basic understanding level for all ITER staff members;
  • Implements the technical control of the Protection Important Activities, as well as their propagation to the entire supply chain;
  • May be requested to perform other duties in support of the project as defined by your line manager, and when relevant upon the request of the matrix manager;
  • May be requested to work outside the ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays, due to business needs - this may include on-call, shift work, etc.
  • May be requested to be part of any of the project/construction teams and to perform other duties in support of the project;
  • For staff expected to perform on-call, shift hours, or other work outside ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, the possession of a driving license valid in France is required. no commuting vehicle will be provided by the ITER Organization.
  • Informs management of any important and urgent issues that cannot be handled by line or matrix management and that may jeopardize the achievement of the Project’s objectives;
