Job Description

In this newly designed program for Victim-Survivors of Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault, you will be part of a supportive team who ensure that victim-survivors are provided with appropriate and continuous care.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

In this max term role (through to end of December 2026) you’ll work as a part of our Wellbeing Team in Doomadgee to help us create lasting change for children everywhere.

You will make a difference by:

  • Offer compassionate emotional support through active listening and presence, creating a safe and welcoming space for individuals during or following specialist intervention.
  • Assist clients in gently processing complex or distressing information that may arise during times of crisis, helping them feel less overwhelmed and more supported.
  • Translate complex processes into clear, manageable steps, making the recovery journey more accessible, achievable, and sustainable for each individual.
  • Provide practical assistance that complements specialist DFV services, allowing frontline workers to remain focused on safety
  • Facilitate warm, personalised referrals to relevant services and community-based activities in the Mount Isa region, ensuring clients feel guided and connected rather than redirected

A place to feel valued:

Your knowledge of the local community networks will be invaluable. We recognise your contribution and provide you the support to ensure you can bring your best, knowing here you have the space and opportunity to grow.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience working with, and understanding of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families
  • Demonstrated experience in case management
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Current valid driver’s licence
  • Working with Children Check / Blue Card (or ability to obtain one)

A place to belong:

At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:

  • Award rate salary (Level 3.1 - $38.65 an hour) plus full salary packaging benefits – use this link to see how much this benefit could mean to you!
  • Generous annual remote location allowance paid on top of your base salary
  • 5 weeks’ annual leave, plus extra leave to use in a range of ways to ensure you’re able to perform at your optimum

  • Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program
  • Supportive Managers – for non-casual employees, we provide professional supervision training and monthly supervision sessions so you can feel supported and build a career at Save
  • Celebrate and feel supported in your diversity. We have a highly inclusive culture and diverse workforce reflecting the communities we serve, allowing you to bring your whole self to work (if that’s what you want!).
