Mission and objectives
The FJDI works with children, youth, women and communities to promote justice, development and economic recovery in northern Uganda. FJDI seeks solutions to the long-term impacts of the conflict which ravaged northern Uganda by advocating for redress of human rights violations and atrocities committed during the conflict, implementation of sustainable development initiatives, and promotion of economic empowerment through livelihood programs. We believe in the concept of Holistic Justice grounded in the notion that judicial mechanisms of redress go hand in hand with development and economic empowerment of victims.Context
Since 2016, the Foundation for Justice and Development Initiatives (FJDI) has advocated for the implementation of proper memorialization initiatives in northern Uganda. FJDI has specifically worked with 18 communities that experienced massacres to organize annual memorial prayers, and to erect monuments and other forms of memorials for victims who lost their lives. Approximately 2,500 civilians from these communities lost their lives in 18 massacres perpetrated by different armed groups in northern Uganda between 1981 and 2004. FJDI in partnership with victims’ associations in northern Uganda organizes annual memorial commemorations to remember victims of conflict, foster healing, and continue demand for reparation from the government of the Republic of Uganda.Task Description
We are looking for one online volunteer to provide graphics design services for 17 memorial events that FJDI intends to conduct in 2026. For each memorial event, the materials to be designed include a banner, a social media flyer, and a poster.Competencies and values
