Context
Established in 2006, IOM Lebanon has set a strong track record in delivering humanitarian life-saving services to the most vulnerable populations affected by crises, while developing models and partnerships for longer-term recovery and development. The Office employs more than 300 staff (including IOM staff, consultants and hourly workers) based in Beirut, North Lebanon (Tripoli), the Beqaa Valley (Chtoura), Mount Lebanon and the South (Tyre).
Since October 2023, IOM Lebanon has been addressing the humanitarian needs of IDPs and supporting the Government of Lebanon to prepare for conflict escalation. From the onset of the recent escalation, IOM has worked closely with the government, UN counterparts and local partners to ensure a comprehensive response across six key areas: displacement tracking, site coordination, provision of basic assistance, health, and protection services, while ensuring the inclusion of migrants in preparedness and response efforts.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office in Lebanon, and the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes, and in close coordination with the Programme Associate (Data and Research), the incumbent will support data collection, cleaning, verification, and dissemination activities, contributing to the preparation of regular reports and research outputs.
Assist in the implementation of data collection and research activities.
Support the preparation of data collection tools (questionnaires, interview guides).
Conduct data entry, cleaning, and verification, with attention to completeness and accuracy.
Assist in compiling, organizing, and summarizing quantitative and qualitative data.
Support the preparation of data tables, basic charts, and summaries for reports and presentations.
Provide logistical and administrative support for field data collection missions and enumerator trainings.
Support liaison with internal units (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, MEAL, PSU) and external stakeholders to facilitate project implementation.
Support the preparation of service requests, purchase orders, travel arrangements, and other administrative documentation.
Retrieve, compile, and summarize information on specific project topics for internal and external reporting.
Assist in drafting sections of reports, briefing notes, and meeting minutes.
Maintain organized filing systems for project documents, datasets, assessments, and correspondence.
Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, including preparation of materials, attendance sheets, and logistical arrangements.
Perform other duties as assigned
Education
- High school diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
Experience in supporting coordination with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Experience working with migrants, displaced populations, or other vulnerable groups.
- Experience in data entry, data cleaning, and basic analysis is an advantage.
- Prior experience with data collection tools (Kobo, ODK) is desirable.
- Previous experience in international or humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization is an advantage.
Skills
Good command of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data visualization tools is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of research methodologies.
Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Ability to compile, organize, and summarize data clearly.
Knowledge of the migration context in Lebanon and the region is desirable.
Knowledge of IOM’s mandate and activities is a distinct advantage.
Languages
For all applicants, fluency in Arabic and English is required (oral and written).
Desirable: Working knowledge in French
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
