-Primary health care to the UN Staff and dependents, - Lead emergency response efforts, and -Influence public health programs within an international organization -Responding to emergency calls and supporting the Medical Officer in providing patient care. -Liaison between patients, families, and colleagues, as well as documenting case findings and ensuring continuity of care.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Health Care Center in, Ethiopia, provides essential medical services and medico administrative Services to UN staff, their dependents, and other eligible beneficiaries. The Center aims to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and support public health initiatives within the UN community. Under the overall guidance of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and the direct supervision of the Head Nurse, the Emergency Nurse is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: · The Nurse must be available during off-hours and weekends to respond to emergencies · Responds to emergency calls and assists in patient transport. · Performs Triage and administers first aid to patients before physician arrival. · Orders and conducts basic medical tests for diagnosis. · Records patient health history, vital signs, and lab results. · Performs physical examinations and minor procedures. · Administers primary care to all age groups and genders. · Takes laboratory samples for analysis and performs point of care laboratory testing · Administers vaccinations, maintains cold chain. · Conduct diagnostic screening tests and provide routine care when the Medical Officer is absent. · Accompany patients in medical evacuations · Prepares staff for travel, including vaccines and health instructions. · Participates in health education, workplace assessments, and occupational health initiatives. · Provides training on Basic life support and First Aid for UN staff · Dispenses medications, manages stock · Serve as custodian of medical equipment assigned to the nurse and conduct regular inventory · Ensure all medical equipment is in good working condition and regular preventive maintenance is carried out. · Can be deployed to UNHCC field Health Care Center within Ethiopia if needed as per the origination requirements.
Qualifications/special skills
Education • University degree (B.S. or equivalent) in nursing or related field is required. • National registration and license are required. • Valid Certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support or equivalent emergency training is mandatory Experience: • Seven years of experience in nursing or related area is required. • 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. • Work experience in an international organization is an advantage • Experience in Instructing emergency training (BLS/ First Aid) course is an advantage Skills and Competencies required for the function: Professionalism: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Health Care Centeral, occupational, and tropical medicine. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the job advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Special Notice: 1. Although this position falls under ECA where the recruitment and selection process is managed; the contract administration will be handled through United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) under contract term of "Local Individual Contractor Agreement". 2. The UN Clinic is in the field operates during working hours of the duty station. In addition, staff are expected to be on call for emergencies. 3. Evaluation of qualified candidates will consist of a technical assessment test followed by a competency-based interview. 4. The Selected Candidate can be deployed to other UNHCC satellite clinics as per organizational need. 5. THIS IS A LOCALLY RECRUITED POSITION FOR WHICH ONLY APPLICANTS WHO ARE ETHIOPIAN NATIONALS OR APPLICANTS WHO POSSESS A VALID RESIDENCE AND WORK PERMIT IN ETHIOPIA ARE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.
