Organizational Setting
The Land and Water Division (NSL) aims at enhancing the agricultural productivity and advancing the sustainable use of land, soil and water resources through their improved governance, management and restoration. It addresses the challenges Member countries face in ensuring productive and efficient use of these natural resources in order to meet present and future demands for agricultural products, while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the land, soil and water quantity and quality. It promotes equitable access to these natural resources with a view to enhancing productivity, livelihoods and ecosystem services. It provides technical assistance to Member countries in developing policies and programmes and adopting best practices and tools in the fields of irrigation and drainage, soil and water conservation, drought mitigation, water rights and access to natural resources.
Reporting Lines
Under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Officer and Coordinator of the NSL Communication Hub, in close collaboration with the NSL Communication Focal Points and the Office of Communications (OCC), the Consultant will assist the NSL Communication Hub in outreach activities.
Technical Focus
The incumbent will contribute to the planning and organization of events, cultural and artistic exhibitions and in outreach activities to enhance the visibility and impact of FAO’s work in land, soil and water and to foster stakeholder engagement.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Contribute to the conceptualisation, implementation and delivery of cultural and artistic initiatives.
• Support the organization of events and related cultural/artistic exhibitions, managing the full event cycle, from the concept development to artist selection, logistical coordination, administrative support and on-site implementation, ensuring inclusivity, innovation and alignment with FAO values.
• Support the logistical organization of NSL events/UN celebrations.
• Act as NSL focal point for the FAO MuNe (Food and Agriculture Museum & Network).
• Support the logistical organization of project-related events in FAO HQ and in different countries, including coordination with local suppliers, preparation of materials, and follow-up on operational requirements.
• Support the selection and procurement of communication materials.
• Maintain liaison with the Office of Communication (OCC), either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards and appropriate review and clearance processes.

Minimum Requirements
• Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Economics, Art History, Social Sciences, Contemporary Art Curator or related fields or any other discipline relevant to the work of the Organization. Consultants with bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
• 5 years of relevant experience in communications, cultural exhibition organization and/or public relations.
• Working knowledge of English, French, Spanish Arabic, Chinese or Russian.

Technical/Functional Skills
• Work experience in international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs or cultural institutions, preferably in the fields of agriculture, food systems, environment, soil, land and water.
• Extent and relevance of experience in curating artistic/cultural exhibitions.
• Extent and relevance of experience in supporting institutional communication strategies, connecting art and science, environmental sustainability and food system solutions.
• Experience in coordinating the whole project cycle related to exhibition organization and in managing external providers
