The temporary position is located within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Pursuant to Security Council resolution 2793 (2025), UNSOH has been mandated to provide support; primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces in the context of any joint operations with the GSF. Additionally, UNSOH is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS). The Movement Control Assistant is responsible for: Receiving and registering cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation; boarding and deplaning passengers; lifting and carrying cargo as required; fulfilling the duties of a passenger baggage handler. Preparing, compiling and maintaining detachment passenger and cargo statistics, as well as preparing and processing monthly attendance records, MOPs/Waivers, and other documentation as required. The temporary position is based in Port-au-Prince and is located in the Cargo Team within the Movement Control Unit. The incumbent will report to the Movement Control Officer P-3, or designated official.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority and depending on location, the Movement Control Assistant, G-4, may be responsible for the following duties: • Receives and registers cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation. • Receives supplies from different sections, arranges for transportation and follows up from delivery to destination. • Completes cargo manifests and other documentation. • Arranges customs clearance and related documentation. • Lifts and carries cargo as required and ensures cargo (including dangerous cargo) is loaded in accordance with International Regulations. • Informs appropriate consignees on delivery of items. • Boards and deplanes passengers, while remaining aware of safety procedures standards with respect to aircraft refuelling, use of cell phones and approaching aircraft. • Checks in passengers to include manifest confirmation/amendments, baggage identification and weighing, distribution of boarding passes. • Assists with airfield and air terminal security by ensuring that all passenger baggage or property are scanned and accounted for at the time of check-in, the air passengers remain in designated areas while at the air terminal and all incidents or potential safety or security matters are reported in a timely manner. • Fulfils the duties of a passenger baggage handler by retrieving or placing passenger baggage on aircraft, assists in the transfer of baggage to the terminal area, and follows up on misplaced or damaged baggage. • Prepares and processes monthly attendance records, MOPs/Waivers, leave requests, F.10 claims, CMRs, e-job supply requests and other documentation as required. • Prepares, compiles and maintains the monthly detachment passenger and cargo statistics related to air/ground movements. • Tracks and traces missing cargo and baggage. • Drives vehicles at the airfield in keeping with appropriate licenses. • Prepares, processes and follows up on administrative arrangements with respect to staff official travel. • Maintains Unit files as required (both in hard and soft copies), administrative instructions and other related documentation. • Provides general office support services such as drafting routine correspondence and the distribution to various officials. • Performs other duties as and when required by the supervisor.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification
Valid national driving license is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in movement control related services or general experience in the field of transport logistics, travel related or logistic fields or administration is required. Experience working in a United Nations common system field presence (inclusive of peacekeeping operations, special political missions, agencies funds and programmes), or other similar international organization is desirable. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams is desirable.

This temporary job opening is being advertised for advance planning purposes pending formal approval of the relevant funding and staffing structures.
