Azure | Cost Optimisation | Cloud Platform Engineering

We’re looking for a FinOps Specialist to design, embed, and evolve cost-optimisation practices across our Azure platform. This is a hands-on role at the heart of cloud engineering and DevOps, where you’ll help teams build financially efficient, scalable solutions without slowing delivery.

You’ll work within a value stream, collaborating closely with platform and product engineers to integrate FinOps tooling, automation, and governance directly into CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code. From forecasting and anomaly detection to architectural optimisation, you’ll help ensure our cloud estate delivers maximum value for every pound spent.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting FinOps capabilities across cloud and hybrid environments, including:

• Owning Azure Cost Management and Billing for spend analysis, optimisation, and reporting
• Integrating FinOps tooling into Azure DevOps and GitHub pipelines, and into IaC workflows (Bicep / Terraform)
• Automating resource tagging and cost allocation across subscriptions, management groups, and landing zones
• Delivering forecasting, budgeting, and anomaly detection using Azure Budgets, Cost Analysis, and Power BI
• Driving rate optimisation strategies, including:
• Azure Reservations
• Savings Plans
• Spot Virtual Machines
• Improving workload efficiency and architecture using Azure Advisor and platform insights
• Building dashboards and cost transparency reporting using Power BI and Azure Monitor
• Enabling and educating engineering squads on FinOps principles and cost-aware design
• Supporting on-premises and private cloud cost management, including:
• Chargeback / showback models
• Capacity planning
• Hybrid cost reporting and optimisation

What we’re looking for

You’re a FinOps practitioner who understands that cost optimisation is an engineering discipline, not just finance reporting.

You’ll bring:

• Proven experience designing and implementing FinOps practices within Azure-centric platform engineering
• Strong collaboration skills, working with engineers to embed FinOps into DevOps and CI/CD workflows
• Hands-on experience with Azure Cost Management, Pricing Calculator, and cost optimisation tools
• Experience working with Managed Service Providers and FinOps tooling vendors
• Solid understanding of cloud engineering best practices
• Experience in capacity management across cloud and on-prem environments
• A data-driven mindset with the ability to turn cost data into actionable insights

Certifications & qualifications

• FinOps Certified Practitioner (intermediate to advanced level preferred)
• Equivalent experience considered for candidates with strong practical expertise
