The UNICEF Country Office Development and Support (CODAS) section within Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) in Geneva, Switzerland, is seeking an Individuals Fundraising Specialist to carry out specific fundraising support CO’s and Clusters in ECA, EAP, ESA, LAC, MENA and WCARO regions.

This role will be critical for emerging markets and Clusters to deliver their 2026 Private Sector Plan (PSP) targets in addition to developing high growth targets as part of their future strategic plans.

The incumbent of this consultancy assignment will work directly with the Cluster and CO Managers and PSFR teams, Ops and Procurement teams, ICT and CODAS as well as agencies managing the Individuals fundraising activity.

How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:   

Reporting to PFP Market Development Manager, CODAS and working closely with the wider team as well as PFP teams, the Cluster Managers, CO PSFR teams, the consultant will: 

  • Work closely with countries and Clusters to ensure that the infrastructure for fundraising is in place. This relates to the provision of agencies and providers and the contractual negotiation of fundraising KPI’s for inclusion in regional LTA’s and contracts. 

  • Coordinate the strategic planning, development, and implementation of individual fundraising activities within the relevant markets to optimize fundraising and revenue potential with a key focus on optimizing and developing value maximization programmes and improving pledge retention and lifetime value (LTV). 

  • Monitor and facilitate the implementation of fundraising strategies and work plans to achieve targets. 

  • Develop, implement, and manage all individual donor reporting and analysis required in order to strategically grow income. 

  • Maintain intelligence on the latest developments in the market, including successful techniques being used within UNICEF. 

  • Working with creative designers, develop a bank of high performing creative asset with a proven success rate, adapted for appropriate for use by the relevant markets. 

  • Manage the development and optimization of donor journeys to maximize donor engagement and drive all metrics related to retention and lifetime value maximization. 

  • Work with the BI specialist on the optimization of the Salesforce database and donor insights to direct donor communications strategies and plans

Deliverables:

Payment will be made on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. UNICF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if deliverables/outputs are incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines. All materials developed will remain the copyright of UNICEF and UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future. 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education:  

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in one of the following fields is required: Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Management, or another relevant technical field.  

  • Alternatively, a first-level university degree   in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.  

Experience:  

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the following fields: in Private Sector Fundraising, Management or another relevant technical field is required.  

  •  Experience and understanding of working in developing markets or for a UNICEF regional or country office, is required.  

  • Proven experience as a highly experienced fundraiser, including delivering multimillion dollar targets and multiple deliverables, of setting up a fundraising operation and infrastructure, building up and leading a large team to successful outcomes, is required.  

  • Proven experience of establishing a fundraising infrastructure and leading on procurement processes, is required. 

  • Experience with Digital Providers is an asset. 

  • Proven experience working in a multi-cultural environment and with cross-functional teams to deliver on common goals, is required.  

  • A strong understanding of UNICEF systems, processes, and operations of UNICEF regional and country offices is highly desirable.  

Language: 

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN official language is considered a plus.

Remarks:  

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees in USD against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.  

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.  

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
