Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The Division of Communications and Advocacy at UN Women supports the positioning of women’s empowerment and gender equality as key issues on the international agenda and establishes UN Women’s role as the global authority in this context. This entails developing and promoting high-quality content, communicating about UN Women’s work through digital and social media and engaging a global audience online.
The UN Women social media team creates and shares content across platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and emerging channels. To support upcoming global campaigns and planned communication priorities, the team is seeking additional support focused on social media content production.
UN Women is therefore seeking a part-time Social Media Consultant to support the preparation and roll-out of social media content for planned global campaigns and milestones. The consultant will support the drafting and adaptation of platform-specific social media copy, content ideas, and basic asset suggestions aligned with UN Women’s campaigns, priorities, and thematic areas.
Working under the supervision of the Social Media Lead, the consultant will support social media content development and campaign implementation across UN Women’s priority initiatives. This is a remote, home-based, part-time consultancy (CET-compatible working hours) and does not require in-person presence in UN Women offices.

It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
