Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Information Centers (UNICs) belong to the Information Centres Service (ICS), Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). This internship is located in the United Nations Information Centre in Manama, Bahrain. UNIC Manama is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The information centre is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in Arabic and English; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves. It is initially a continuous three-month assignment with a possibility of extension up to a maximum of six months. Responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Support in content creation for the UNIC's online platforms, including social media accounts. Support in monitoring and moderating the UNIC's online platforms, including social media, and in implementing social media campaigns. Support in the design, production, and dissemination of information material. Support in the organization of events and meetings. Provide support in preparing media monitoring reports Provide translation support.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.​Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
