Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Economic Affairs Officer, Innovation, Enterprise and Investment Section, Trade, Investment, and Innovation Division, the contractor will be responsible for overseeing, implementing and executing the projects’ communication strategy, ensuring alignment with projects goals, and managing the development of high-quality communication materials. Specific responsibilities and tasks include: Strategic Communications Development and Management: 1) Develop and continuously refine the projects communications strategy to ensure alignment with the evolving objectives and activities of the projects. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the strategy remains relevant and effective in reaching target audiences. 2) Maintain and update the communications strategy tracker tool, ensuring all communication materials are systematically logged, tracked, and evaluated for effectiveness. 3) Coordinate social media posting schedules in collaboration with ESCAP’s Communications and Knowledge Management Section (CKMS), ensuring regular and strategic updates across all platforms, including ESCAP social media channels, the Community of Practice’ Green Forum site, and the Community of Practice’ WhatsApp community. Content Creation, Design, and Layout: 4) Produce and contribute to the development of communication materials, including opinion pieces and blog articles, social media posts, and other relevant content. All materials should align with the projects’ themes and activities, reinforcing its key messages. 5) Collaborate with APC Colombia to develop a unified visual identity for the project. This identity will be applied across various communication platforms, including social media posts, webinar slide decks, and other visual materials. 6) Ensure consistent messaging and visual alignment across all communication channels by coordinating closely with the project team, maintaining coherence in the project’s external communications. 7) Design and create visual content, including the layout and cover of knowledge products, PowerPoint templates for webinars, and visualizations for reports. The consultant will ensure all designs meet the project’s visual identity and functional requirements. 8) Support in the design and drafting of final project progress reports and other documentation, ensuring a professional and polished presentation of all project outputs. Platform Management and Coordination: 9) Develop, manage, and update the project’s website, ensuring it serves as the central hub for all project-related communications. The contractor will be responsible for keeping the website current with the latest information and resources. CECP Project: - Communications related to the Landscape Study of IB in Lao PDR, in particular the launch of the study. - Support the finalisation of the publication of Landscape Study of IB in Lao PDR (editing, formatting and graphic design) - Prepare communications regarding activities of the CECP project, including presentations on key activities and their outcomes. APC project: - Create an overarching content plan for the programme, encompassing all programme components and aligned with the activities planned for 2025. - Develop a content strategy for the use of video and photo material gathered from the 2024 study tours, including recommendations for optimal channels and timing of content publication to maximize engagement throughout the year. - Refine the visual identity of the Green Transition of Business track to ensure cohesive alignment with the overall programme’s visual identity. - Support the preparation of a follow-up webinar in February 2025 for the participants of the study tour on the Green Transition of Business in November 2024, focusing on sharing learnings, discussing new initiatives, and collecting data on participants’ application of study tour insights in their work. This includes designing a survey to gather qualitative data and actionable feedback. - Draft a blog post reflecting on the South-South cooperation between ESCAP and APC Colombia, highlighting joint initiatives and achievements and outlining upcoming activities planned for 2025, emphasizing the continued role of South-South cooperation. - Coordinate with CKMS on green transition FDI comms material - Create a visual brand and identify for the FDI work more broadly and specifically for the GTF project. - Design a template for case studies of initiatives by investment promotion agencies integrating gender and climate dimensions in investment promotion, as well as a toolkit compiling the various case studies. - Develop a communications strategy for publishing the case studies and the toolkit, including publication on the ESCAP website, on social media and events. - Support communications on the study tour Gates Project: - Support communications on inclusive business promotion regarding the Impact Harvest Forum 2025, the Eighth ASEAN Inclusive Business Forum, and the Social procurement study in Thailand. Sustainable Business Network (ESBN) - Support the communications of ESBN including the development of a logo, newsletter template, and website design and content
Qualifications/special skills
Master’s Degree in Business, International Affairs, International Management, Finance, Accountancy, Law, Public Policy or related field. At least one year of experience in communications, social media management, brand management, website maintenance, etc. Desirable Criteria: • Experience in working with the United Nations, and specifically with the United Nations Secretariat. • Experience with inclusive business, social enterprise, and/or impact investment content and/or activities. • Experience in brand and communications management. • Experience in developing and maintaining digital assets including website and social media channels/networks. • Experience with developing content for printed and digital media channels. • Experience in developing and executing social media information campaigns and communications strategies.
