Duties and Responsibilities
In coordination with the PRO programme team, the consultant will: • Inception, work planning and post-consultancy debriefing (1 day total): Briefing with OHCHR; Review key background documents (UNSDCF, AWCP, HRBA guidance, partner materials, etc.); Sumit short inception report with refined workplan and timeline. Debrief management following delivery of all contract outputs. • Organisation and delivery of HRBA and Disability Inclusion training(s) (5 days): Building on the UN common learning package on HRBA and existing materials, develop programme, research case study, dispatch invitations, work with OHCHR administrative staff on logistics and deliver workshop on a date tbc in late November/early December 2025. • Organisation and delivery of Human Rights Day and Human Rights Defenders Day events (3 days): Building on existing concept note and HQ guidance, support PRO management and staff in the organisation of HRD/HRDD in Suva/online on 9/10 December 2025, provide summary report and record materials • Organisation and support for HRTG meeting: Support the organisation and reporting on Q4/2025 HRTG meeting and preparation for HRTG retreat 2026 (1 day)
Qualifications/special skills
Bachelor’s degree in law, sustainable development, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field from an accredited academic institution. An advanced University Degree or a Master’s Degree in combination with relevant experience will be an added advantage. At least 5 years’ experience in the field of human rights, sustainable development, political affairs, international relations, and/or law is required. Experience of working in capacity building and communications is required. Experience in human rights policy analysis and research, and or international, regional, legal instruments on matters relating to regional, national or sub-national governance is desirable. Experience of working in other countries of the Pacific region, in addition to Fiji, including with governments and regional organizations, is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of any of the indigenous languages from the Pacific will be an advantage.
