At CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Introduction
Are you an experienced, hands-on mechanical engineer with a passion for cutting-edge technologies and precision assemblies? Then seize this opportunity and join CERN’s Experimental Physics (EP) Department, where you will take part in the development and construction of the next generation of particle detectors.
The CERN ATLAS Team plays a major role in the construction of the future silicon ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk). In particular, the CERN team focuses on the realisation of the Pixel Outer Barrel. These activities include the design, prototyping and assembly of the support structures and tooling as well as the final detector integration, installation and testing.
