Temporary Senior Identity and Access Management Engineer

As a Temporary Senior Identity and Access Management Engineer, within the IT and Data Infrastructures Division (I2D), you'll have the opportunity to work on EUMETSAT’s generic Information Technology (IT) and data infrastructure to satisfy needs of operational missions, future programmes and corporate IT.

Duties

For the temporary support, the following tasks have been identified:

  • Support the end‑to‑end implementation and rollout of an Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platform across the organisation;
  • Enhance the integration of the IGA platform with Entra and drive application onboarding and improvements;
  • Propose process improvements, RACI, and runbooks; lead change management, stakeholder training, and communications in a process‑heavy, multilingual environment;
  • Transition to routine operations: monitoring/alerting, incident playbooks, performance tuning, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Full secondary education + practical / vocational qualifications relating to role.

LANGUAGES

Duties

For the temporary support, the following tasks have been identified:

Skills and Experience

In-depth knowledge and proven experience of:

  • Hands-on engineering, implementation, operation, and maintenance of Identity Governance and Administration Solutions. This should include active participation in roll-out and routine operations, preferably in 24/7 high-availability environments;
  • Knowledge of directory, federation, and protocols: e.g. AD/Entra ID, LDAP; OIDC/OAuth2, group/entitlement modelling and birthright access patterns;
  • Knowledge of access governance design (RBAC/ABAC): Role/entitlement taxonomy, business-friendly request/approval flows and certification campaign design;
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation: GitLab CI/CD and test automation;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
  • Comfortable saying “no”, challenging assumptions respectfully, pushing for decisions and ensuring actions are completed;
  • Excellent time management and demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Employment Conditions

The Temporary Senior Identity and Access Management Engineer will work on a full-time basis. The role will be based at the EUMETSAT headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Remote working will not be possible.

Interviews for this position will be held in English, followed by a work-related assessment also in English.

NB This is NOT a staff role. The successful candidate would be employed through a temp agency for the duration of the contract. Agency employment conditions will apply. Applicants will need to have the right to work in Germany. Visa or work permit support will not be provided.

The target start date is as soon as possible until end of December 2026.

The successful candidate will be reporting to IT & Ground Systems Security Competence Area Manager.
