Job Description

Background:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is performing an impact evaluation study of a food security and nutrition program in Central America. An endline survey will be carried out in mid-2024 that will complement the baseline and mid-term surveys conducted in previous years for the overall evaluation of the program. IFPRI seeks a Consultant for a 6-month appointment in its Markets, Trade and Institutions Unit, between June and December 2024, to collaborate in the impact evaluation. The Consultant will collaborate in the survey design and implementation by preparing the survey questionnaire and materials for the survey training; in the data processing and analysis, including household and administrative data; and in the report drafting. The position is based remotely and may require travel to Central America and/or IFPRI Headquarters in Washington DC.

Scope of Work:

  • Perform literature and document reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver the questionnaire for the endline survey and deliver materials for survey training.
  • Process and analyze quantitative household data collected from the endline survey and deliver report.
  • Compile and analyze project administrative data and deliver report.
  • Perform economic and statistical analysis and deliver report.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and/or advanced PhD studies in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or closely related field.
  • Sound knowledge of impact evaluation methods.
  • Excellent econometric skills on linear and nonlinear regression models.
  • Experience with statistical analysis of databases.
  • Sound knowledge of STATA.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and with initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
  • Sound knowledge of microeconomics.
  • Working experience in Latin America on impact evaluation studies.
  • Experience managing and analyzing household and administrative databases.
