Job Description

The European Investment Fund (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its Investment Office (IO) - Central Front Office Services Department - Business Support Division at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior/Principal) Briefing Officer *. This is a full position (travel might be required) at grade 5/6 for which the EIF offers a permanent contract.

Purpose:

Part of the EIB Group, the mission of the European Investment Fund (EIF) is to improve access to finance for SMEs and small mid-caps in Europe. We do this by supporting emerging and established fund managers with equity investments and by designing debt financing instruments that share the risk taken by financial institutions when they lend to or invest in small businesses. We bring this support closer to entrepreneurs through our extensive network of partners and financial intermediaries in all EU Member States and associated countries.

Operating network:

The successful candidate will report directly to Head of Division and will work in close cooperation with other members of the Division and Department. S/he will be in constant contact with EIF’s Equity Investment Department, Guarantee, Securitisation and Inclusive Finance Department as well as Mandate Design and Mandate Development Departments and well other relevant EIF services and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

At a level commensurate with your experience and seniority, you will:

  • Support CIO management and other CIO departments by providing a central point of reference for transversal topics that require an on-going maintenance of briefing documents repository.
  • Break Down complex information that will enable the receiver of the briefings to gain quick and deeper understanding of the subject matter.
  • Provide a comprehensive and coherent overview, identifying patterns, trends and sensitivities.
  • Establish the process leading to the establishment of an accurate, efficient and agile briefing document production.
  • Take an active role in planning, organizing, and supervising;
  • Ensure effective cooperation among team members and stakeholders, as well as dissemination and cross fertilization of information within the division.

Qualifications:

  • University degree, preferably at post-graduate level, in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related subjects;
  • At least 8 years' relevant (post-graduation) professional experience at same level of experience in audit, fund administration, finance or banking role, preferably within a reputable IFI;
  • Any - or combination - of the following would be considered an advantage:
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

  • Ability to debate convincingly, liaise and communicate in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing;
  • Service oriented, with the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent people skills, due to the extent of liaison with various stakeholders;
  • Ability to draft documents promptly;
  • Good organisational and prioritising skills;
  • Critical thinker and strong analytical skills;
  • Strong team player, self-starter personality, constructive and result oriented approach;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
