Duties and Responsibilities
Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by The United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 140 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses, and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action, and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk by working with the U.N. Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and the science and technology community. Under supervision of UNDRR Public Information Assistant and supported by the External Relation Officer, the individual contractor will develop: 1. One Landing Page and Six website pages for the UNDRR Regional Office website. a. Content will be produced in English and Spanish. b. Pictures will be provided by UNDRR. c. Building of back office d. Incorporation of regional information. 2. Draft five articles and one Q&A summarizing the information of the RAR24 (Regional Assessment Report 2024) Report. a. Content will be produced in English and Spanish. b. Articles will be based on a 150-page report (approximately). c. The Q&A will be based on key messages shared by UNDRR. 3. Design and develop four infographics based on RAR24 report for the website and social media channels. a. Content will be produced in English and Spanish. b. Editable files will be shared together with final approved versions. 4. Production of five videos for social media. a. Videos will be based on interviews made by UNDRR Regional office for the Americas and the Caribbean. b. Content will be produced in English and Spanish. c. Each original video will have approximately 10 minutes. d. Final videos should have between 1´30 – 2 minutes. e. Footage and pictures will be provided by UNDRR.
Qualifications/special skills
First-level university degree in communication, development studies, economics, geography or graphic design is required. - Five (5) years experience in production of creative content is required. - Experience with Drupal multi-domain environment is desirable. - Experience with Google Analytics and its event "event" tracking to measure content performance is desirable. Working experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR) in the Americas and the Caribbean is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
