Job Description
Result of Service
Develop custom Drupal 10 modules using the Unite Web framework (Drupal 10) to facilitate the upgrade of existing functionalities. Develop and enhance custom SOLR search features and functionalities for custom client website requirements. Undertake bug fixes and security updates for Drupal 9 throughout the project life-cycle.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) manages several enterprise-wide ICT systems that are used extensively by the UN Secretariat, including the enterprise web content management platform (Unite Web) that is used to build and manage content for UN public information websites. This position is part of the OICT Enterprise Solution Service (OICT/ESS) and reports to the Project Manager for the website migration project. The team requires a web developer to support the ongoing development, enhancement and maintenance of client websites ensuring their content, look, and feel are compliant with established requirements. The consultant will be expected to perform the following tasks: • Assist with the development and maintenance of full-life cycle implementations of Drupal-based solutions in support of the websites for clients with a focus on maintainability, reliability, scalability, security, and performance. • Assist site-building activities, including support creating and modifying views, contexts, and blocks, to match functionality specified in wireframes and designs. • Support server-side (back-end) programming, custom module development, and database management for Drupal websites to ensure functionality, performance, and integration with other systems in compliance with UN branding, accessibility, and multi-lingual standards. • Develop faceted search views, and design and implement advanced filtering capabilities within SOLR, enabling refined search results based on multiple attributes to improve website user search experience. • Review user requirements, designs, and wireframes and user experience, to determine technical feasibility during the design phase of the project. • Support the preparation of technical documentation as required. • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above.
Qualifications/special skills
Bachelor’s in computer science or software engineering or related field. A minimum of 2 years’ of experience in the design, development, implementation, training, or maintenance of Drupal 9/10 web sites is required. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in designing and implementing faceted search using SOLR is required. Ability to prioritize and organize effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Additional Information
• The consultant is to align their workday with the UN Office in Valencia, Spain. • The consultant will be paid for 10 UN holiday days per calendar year, following the calendar of the UN Office in Valencia, Spain.
