The Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA) was founded in 1987 under the name of "LO-FTF Council" by Denmark’s two largest trade union confederations, LO (the Confederation of Danish Trade Unions) and FTF (the Salaried Employees' and Civil Servants' Confederation), who merged in 2018 as the Danish Trade Union Confederation.  

In the beginning, its activities were centred about solidarity work in South Africa to remove the apartheid regime and support the forbidden Congress of South African Trade Unions COSATU. Through the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the global trade unions, the DTDA supported the education of workers.

Today the DTDA is the professional development organization of the Danish trade union movement with 18 employees in Denmark and Danish counsellors and local employees across the world. Through the years, DTDA has undergone a continuous development, focusing on technical assistance efforts, quality and trustworthiness in its work.

DTDA bases its work on the values of the trade union movement and the national and global labour network. 

DTDA focuses its efforts within the Decent Work agenda on four main areas:

• Creation of decent jobs

• Securing the rights of workers

• Creation of a social protection 

• Securing social dialogue

DTDA seeks to strengthen capacity building and advocacy of trade union in the developing countries, in order for them to perform their role and contribute to sustainable growth and employment.
