The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the UN that promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) to support economic growth, reduce poverty, and protect the environment. Task Description
Under the direct supervision of UNIDO Representative in Tunisia, or his designated representative, the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) – Junior Project Monitoring Assistant will support the UNIDO team in Tunisia in strengthening project monitoring, reporting, and data management for industrial development projects. Through this assignment, the volunteer will also contribute to the monitoring of the implementation of the Country Partnership Programme (PCP) of UNIDO in Tunisia, in particular by supporting data collection, coordination, documentation, and the dissemination of results. 1. Support to Project Monitoring and Data Collection Contribute to the collection, compilation, and organization of data related to project activities and results. Support the updating of project monitoring tools (dashboards, databases, tracking files). Assist in tracking the progress of activities against work plans and deadlines. Support the collection of information from implementing partners and beneficiaries. Ensure proper organization and filing of information required for project monitoring. 2. Support to Data Analysis and Visualization Contribute to the consolidation and verification of collected data. Assist in preparing tables, charts, and visual materials to present project results. Participate in identifying trends, insights, or gaps based on available data. Support the updating of indicators and data collection tools. 3. Support to the Use of Digital and Innovative Tools Contribute to the use of digital tools that facilitate project management and monitoring. Support initiatives aimed at improving data organization and processing through digital solutions. Participate in testing and exploring innovative tools, including AI-based solutions, under team supervision. Support the simplification and automation of administrative or reporting tasks where relevant. 4. Support to Reporting and Knowledge Management Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other project documents. Participate in documenting achievements, best practices, and lessons learned. Support the updating and archiving of project documents in digital workspaces. Contribute to the dissemination of information on project results and activities. 5. Support to Coordination and Activity Organization Support day-to-day coordination with project teams and relevant partners. Assist in the logistical and administrative organization of meetings, workshops, and project events. Participate in the preparation of meeting minutes and follow-up on agreed actions. Contribute to information flow between different project stakeholders. 6. Support to Field Activities Participate, when necessary, in field visits as part of project monitoring activities. Support data collection and documentation of field activities. Contribute to gathering observations, results, and feedback from beneficiaries. Living conditions and remarks
1) Living Conditions Living conditions in Tunisia are highly regarded and are comparable to those in Mediterranean countries on the northern shore. The country enjoys a Mediterranean climate in almost all regions, except for the south, which has a more arid climate. In addition to its mild climate and diverse landscapes, Tunisia has a rich cultural heritage, making it one of the most visited countries in the world. It is also well known for its gastronomy and culinary traditions shaped by a millennia-old history. The country has a well-recognized healthcare system and a quality education system. It is equipped with all necessary infrastructure and amenities to ensure a good standard of living. The capital, Tunis, is relatively easy to navigate. Public transportation is available and affordable. Crime rates remain relatively low. As this is a national United Nations Volunteer assignment, the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and essential living needs. 2) Conditions of Service for National UN Volunteers The contract is concluded for the period indicated. There is no guarantee of renewal of the assignment. Travel to the duty station (if applicable) and a settling-in allowance will be provided when the duty station is outside commuting distance from the place of recruitment. A monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is provided to cover accommodation, utilities, and basic living expenses. Life, health, disability and malicious acts insurance is included (health insurance for up to three dependents), as well as a final repatriation allowance (if applicable) and a resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. 3) Entitlements 1. Pre-assignment Entry lump sum: USD 350 Relocation costs: USD 175 at the beginning and end of the assignment if the duty station is outside commuting distance (as determined by UNV) 2. During assignment Volunteer Living Allowance: TND 1,879.74 Learning and training: Access to UNV learning and career development resources Annual leave: 2.5 days per month Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for health, life, and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer, as well as health insurance coverage for up to three eligible dependents. End of assignment Exit lump sum (paid upon successful completion of the assignment): USD 120 for each month served, paid upon completion of the contract.
