1. Post Context/Post Summary.
The Research Division (RD) is responsible for the planning, organization and execution of the NDC's research programme, including research fellowships, research seminars and workshops, NDC engagement to security organizations and academic institutions, policy recommendations to NATO political and military leaders at headquarters and in NATO’s strategic commands, and research-related publications.
The incumbent belongs to the Research Division. S/he reports to the Director Research for all research-related activities and for general administrative/staff issues, and to Head Partner Courses Branch when assigned to a NRCC-related activity.

The incumbent must be capable of taking a firm view of all matters in regard of research and conferencing, must be able to work without supervision and under limited guidance, and to express concisely and convincingly.
Project management: The incumbent must ensure that programme deliverables are attainable and guide their progress.
Clarity and Accuracy: He/She must be capable of checking his/her own work;
Communication: Represent extensively the NATO Defence College and contribute to the development of research and public messaging, including lectures, conferences and other engagement activities.

7. Remarks
Work Environment. There is also an expectation to sometimes work outside normal office hours, and a requirement to potentially travel as part of the appointment.

Contract. The successful candidate will be offered a two-year definite duration contract which may be followed by a further three -year contract. Employment of research positions shall not be beyond five years duration.
