[Pipeline Position] Associate Research Scientist I (Clinical Development Department) [based in Seoul]

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Support conduct of research projects

• Provide scientific support to principal investigator/project team on study design
• Lead the development of study protocols, forms, and standard operating procedures as well as regular written progress/performance reports on projects
• Oversee project-related activities as focal point and ensure compliance of project activities with national and international policies and regulatory codes
• Work closely with local collaborators, doctors/health professionals to ensure that measures and consequences based on IVI’s work undertaken are according to international standards and contribute to the benefit of the patient
• Assess national needs and gaps in vaccine research and provide assistance to strengthen the capacity of local health care system in the area of vaccine preventable diseases relevant to project activities
• Support the supervisor and work closely with team and collaborators to assess the vaccination gaps and areas of potential research, policy engagement, and capacity strengthening to advance vaccine access, uptake, last mile delivery, and immunisation strategy evaluation if/when related to project activities
• Provide hands-on support to national partners in training, education and trouble-shooting activities related to the project

2. Data analyses and dissemination

• Conduct analysis and interpretation of the projects data and their use for the national and international community after generating hypotheses and designing research activities, and disseminate the results
• Coordinate the development and publication of research manuscripts
• Keep up-to-date by reading specialist literature and interpreting results of data published by other working groups

3. Build networks with external scientists and stakeholders and seek new funding opportunities

• Engage with peers and external scientists to develop skills, validate models and study results
• Provide in-country and international program results to advocate for health policy change at local, regional, national and international levels
• Foster collaboration between IVI and WHO national and regional offices, other UN or/and international organizations, NGO’s and national Ministries and build partnership with public health institutions present in the program country
• Provide support and work closely with the supervisor to seek public and private funding to enable programs to become self-sustaining in the long term.
• Actively pursue new funding opportunities in line with the IVI Mission and Vision and draft proposals upon internal approval by supervisor

4. Manage and supervise the work of junior researchers and interns

• Coordinating, supporting and supervising the work of interns, researchers and research associates where needed, in close communication with the supervisor
• Support project team as required
