Consultant for impact evaluation activities in Mexico and Central America

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is conducting impact evaluation studies and applied research focused on agriculture and rural development in Mexico and Central America. Current work includes the assessment of agro-innovation hubs in Mexico and the completion of impact evaluations of agricultural and nutrition interventions in Central America. IFPRI seeks a Consultant to conduct economic, statistical, and impact evaluation analyses for these activities between June 15, 2026 and December 15, 2026. The Consultant will contribute through quantitative analysis, economic evaluation, preparation of technical reports and dissemination outputs, and engagement with stakeholders and development partners. The position is based remotely and may require travel to Central America and/or IFPRI Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Scope of Work:

• Conduct literature and document reviews.
• Process and analyze household, farm-level, administrative, and geospatial datasets.
• Conduct statistical, econometric, and economic analyses using quantitative data.
• Assess the adoption, performance, and economic outcomes of agricultural technologies, management practices, and development interventions, including productivity, profitability, and resource-use efficiency analyses.
• Conduct cost-benefit and returns-to-investment analyses under alternative assumptions and scenarios.
• Engage with stakeholders and development partners to gather information and support research and evaluation activities.
• Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, presentations, and dissemination materials.
• Revise and finalize analytical reports and other project deliverables.

Deliverables:

• Report with revised presentation and policy brief summarizing key findings from the Honduras impact evaluation activities.
• Initial progress report on the Mexico activities, including data preparation and construction of the analytical dataset.
• Preliminary technical note presenting initial findings from the analytical work and impact assessment analysis in Mexico.
• Final technical note summarizing the analytical work and impact assessment analysis in Mexico.

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or closely related field.
• Sound knowledge of impact evaluation methods.
• Experience with quantitative economic analysis, including cost-benefit and economic evaluation methods.
• Excellent econometric skills on regression models.
• Experience with statistical analysis of databases.
• Sound knowledge of STATA.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work independently and with initiative.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working experience in Latin America on impact evaluation studies.
• Experience analyzing large household, administrative, and geospatial datasets.
• Experience working on agriculture and rural development projects.
