The Maternal and Child Nutrition program of Nutrition Research Division is implementing a study to identify the services and support needed to promote the healthy development of targeted children. The study will examine Early Childhood Development (ECD) in this unique context, identify key risk and protective factors, and generate evidence to design effective interventions that support children's healthy growth, learning, and future well-being.

Position Description:

The Protection Officer reporting to the Research Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate case management for study participants who seek support for any interpersonal violence or issues of child protection;
  • Provide services, or access to existing services within the Cox’s Bazar camps, to study participants, including case management, age-appropriate engagement and decision-making by survivors, Do No Harm analysis, and safety planning;
  • Provide psychosocial support or access to psychosocial support to women and girls in-line with existing referral processes in the camps;
  • Provide essential information on available services and support survivors in navigating the referral pathways and accessing services;
  • Identify concerns related to and support adherence to GBV and child protection referral protocols and guiding principles;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers;
  • Document all program and beneficiary's activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and forms;
  • Complete weekly and monthly activity reports, according to guidance provided by the GBV response Officer other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in any relevant field, especially Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights, Gender/Protection, Public Health, or Development Studies
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the area of humanitarian, refugee, displacement, protection, GBV, child protection, case management, community engagement, or research settings.
  • Experience working in Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camps, host communities, or another refugee/displacement setting.
  • Ability to communicate in Chittagonian and/or Rohingya language and English is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting protection risk identification, safe referrals, informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding, community engagement, or sensitive data collection.
  • Knowledge of recent protection-sector materials for Cox’s Bazar, including community-based structures, gender mainstreaming, justice, child protection, and peaceful coexistence as important areas in the Rohingya response.

Location: Cox’s Bazar (Ukhiya).

Number of Position: 01

Contract Type and Duration:

  • Short-Term; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
  • Tk. 66,040/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b.
