Job Description

Are you a values-driven leader who is passionate about supporting children, young people, and families to thrive? In this role, you'll lead a dedicated team delivering high-quality services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, ensuring they receive the support they need to achieve positive outcomes.

At 54 Reasons, this role is about more than managing people and programs. It is about creating a culture where staff feel supported, empowered, and equipped to make a meaningful difference every day. Your leadership will help ensure children and families receive safe, responsive, and culturally informed support, while strengthening partnerships across communities and service systems.

We're looking for a collaborative and compassionate leader who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership, inspire others, and navigate complexity with confidence and care.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

In this part-time role (30.4 hours per week) you’ll work as a part of our Perth Metro team located in Kelmscott to help us create lasting change for children everywhere.

You will make a difference by

  • Leading, coaching, and supporting a high-performing team to deliver safe, high-quality, and child-centred services.
  • Building the capability, wellbeing, and professional development of team members through effective supervision, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ensuring services are delivered in line with organisational policies, funding requirements, legislative obligations, and best-practice frameworks.
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with children, families, communities, and key stakeholders to improve outcomes and strengthen service integration.
  • Monitoring service delivery, resources, and program performance to ensure positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.

A place to feel valued:

Your deep expertise in supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families will be invaluable. You're a compassionate and authentic leader who builds trust quickly, develops the capability of others, and creates a positive team culture. You are confident navigating complexity, making sound decisions, and balancing operational priorities with a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

This role requires:

  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide a high performing team to achieve collective goals, program and client outcomes.
  • A genuine passion to support and manage a high-performing team to meet and exceed objectives and achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with a strong understanding of place-based practice and the ability to work collaboratively with communities, services, and partners to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex situations, balance competing priorities, and make informed decisions in a dynamic environment
  • A commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and child-centred practice, ensuring the needs and voices of children, young people, and families remain at the heart of service delivery.

A place to belong:

At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 600 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team.
