Mission and objectives

MISSION: Empowering men, women, youths and the disadvantaged with the tools necessary to help them improve the quality of their lives. We want the oppressed, the poor and less privileged to live a life of meaning and worth. Key programs of Goodness and Mercy Missions since 2007 are: Women Economic empowerment initiatives, child sponsorship, hassle free education for underprivileged children, computer training and youth livelihood projects.

Context

Goodness and Mercy Missions (GMM) is a registered non-profit organization working in Cameroon to promote peacebuilding, community development, education, humanitarian assistance, environmental sustainability, and social transformation. Since the outbreak of the Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon in 2016, GMM has actively engaged in peacebuilding initiatives aimed at fostering reconciliation, social cohesion, and community resilience among conflict-affected populations. Through its work, GMM has observed the importance of strengthening peaceful coexistence among different religious communities. In Boyo Division of the North West Region of Cameroon, Christians and Muslims, particularly among Fulani, Hausa, and indigenous communities, generally coexist peacefully. However, socio-economic challenges, stereotypes, limited interaction, and growing societal pressures have the potential to create misunderstandings and tensions if not proactively addressed. GMM believes that women are strategic agents of peace and development. The organization seeks to promote meaningful collaboration between Muslim and Christian women by engaging them in joint community development activities while simultaneously learning principles of interreligious dialogue, mutual respect, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding. To achieve this goal, GMM seeks the support of UN Online Volunteers to help design innovative initiatives, develop funding proposals, identify donors, and strengthen the overall project concept. Objective of the Assignment To support Goodness and Mercy Missions in designing, documenting, fundraising for, and strengthening an interreligious dialogue and women's empowerment initiative that promotes peaceful coexistence and collaborative community development among Muslim and Christian women in Boyo Division, Cameroon.
