Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, headquartered in Bonn Germany, contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. UNV work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (https://www.undp.org/). The UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, one of six Regional Offices in different locations around the world, forges opportunities for the mobilization of UN Volunteers in support of the UN system’s activities on peace and development, as well as to support volunteerism as a form of civic engagement through increased capabilities and regional partnerships with UN and non-UN entities. At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to integrate volunteerism into their development agenda and for deployment of National UN Volunteers.Context
UNV India is seeking Online Volunteers to support the development of web stories highlighting the experiences of UN Volunteers and their contributions during their assignments. Online Volunteers will be provided with background information, photographs, and other relevant materials for each story. UNV colleagues will offer guidance, feedback, and support throughout the assignment. Volunteering is critical to strengthening communities, supporting public services and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Online Volunteers will be asked to: - Create and curate engaging web content (short articles) featuring UN Volunteers for publication on the UNV website, applying storytelling techniques and incorporating available multimedia elements. - Conduct interviews with and gather information from UN Volunteers serving in the areas of Child Protection, Climate Change, and the Adi Yuva Fellowship Programme in India. - Draft three web stories in accordance with UNV web writing guidelines. - Incorporate relevant multimedia elements, such as photographs and other visual content provided by UNV. The Online Volunteers are expected to produce three web stories, one for each thematic area. Drafts will be reviewed by UNV colleagues, who will provide feedback and guidance to support the quality, accuracy, and consistency of the final outputs. All intellectual property and materials developed through this assignment will remain the property of UNV.Competencies and values
