Background Information
IOM Australia has had a presence in Australia since 1951. Headquartered in Canberra, IOM Australia serves as the Country Office for Partnerships and Advocacy (COPA) and currently implements a regional labour mobility project in the Pacific.
Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer and direct supervision of the Project Assistant, the Project (Labour Mobility) Intern will acquire a working knowledge, gain experience working in an United Nations (UN) agency and learn about IOM activities in Australia and the Pacific.
Provide general administrative and clerical support for labour mobility project activities.
Retrieve, compile, summarise, and present information and data related to labour mobility programming.
Contribute to drafting reports, presentations, and visual materials, including support for training module finalisation and design.
Help coordinate with internal teams and external partners for project implementation.
Assist in organising meetings, workshops, and training sessions, including logistics and documentation.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

The internship will be 5 days per week with three months duration and possibility of extension. The intern is required to work in IOM Canberra office physically.
Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
