The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) seeks to recruit a Ghanaian national as an Accountant for the Ghana Station. The Station Accountant will work with the Ghana Station Administration to manage IITA Ghana Finance and Accounting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oracle EBS module assignments and control – AP, AR, I-Expense, FA modules
2. Internal financial Controls and procedure compliance
3. Budget monitoring and control
4. Preparation of periodic financial reports of the station.
5. Carry out FA verification and impairment assessment role
6. Maintain all necessary accounting records (electronic and hard copies).
7. Check for accuracy before payment of government taxes and ensure prompt payment.
8. Supervise accounts assistant’s work
9. Supervise expense claim returns.
10. Supervise the processing of claim forms for payments.
11. Supervise the payment of procurements Claims.
12. Participate in internal and external audits by providing auditors with support documents as requested and provide explanations for audit queries.
13. Prepare other reports as may be assigned by the Head of Station.
14. Training and advising newly recruited staff on IITA financial policies and procedures.
15. Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
16. Supervision of Banking Relationship and mandate
17. Prepare bank transfers and other letters to the bank.
18. Monthly payroll preparation and closing - Regular staff, STS, Casuals, Consultants
19. General Ledger reconciliation - Payroll and others
20. Monthly statutory payments supervision and compliance - PAYE, SSF, etc.
Requirements
Qualification
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, etc.)
A master's degree will be an advantage
Excellent communication skills and command of English.
Excellent team player, and self-motivated and independent problem solver who excels at prioritization and multi-tasking.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years with related and relevant experience in an International NGO
