Mission and objectives

Action Lab for Development is dedicated to advancing education, food security, and advocacy to empower entrepreneurs, newcomers and promote creative economies in Canada. We envision a future where local innovators and newcomers have the resources to thrive through growth and development. Our mission includes five key objectives: We provide tools and opportunities for creative innovation and entrepreneurship, focusing on continuous improvement. We enable networking and training activities to connect entrepreneurs, institutions, and partners. We educate entrepreneurs and newcomers about fair business practices and social responsibility. We guide emerging entrepreneurs in understanding social and business ecosystems through essential skills and techniques. We encourage youth involvement in volunteering and ensure universal access to research and education by building digital platforms for community knowledge and supporting local ingenuity. Action Lab For Development was registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta-Canada in 2024, granted special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2020, reflecting our commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Our primary focus areas include: • Food Security • Advocacy • Education • These initiatives aim to positively impact local innovators, including newcomers in Canada who may be facing challenges related to integration into a new environment and starting life. Our research shows that access to education, particularly in social entrepreneurship, is a powerful tool for these individuals. It enables them to turn their experiences into practical solutions that benefit their communities.

Context

In this Version 2 enhancement phase, the focus is to: Refine AI reasoning and emotional intelligence. Integrate African ancestral wisdom (Ndapngong) for cultural depth. Apply theological and philosophical frameworks. Enhance UI/UX design and Android performance. Add a health and medical ethical model to expand real-life impact. This phase centers on enhancement, optimization, and expansion to make MoralityCode more intuitive, inclusive, and transformative.

Task Description

Action Lab for Development is seeking Two (2) online volunteers for Philosophical, Theological, Ethical, and Cultural Anthropology Support to contribute to the enhancement of the MoralityCode Mobile App (Version 2)–an innovative ethical decision-making tool integrating moral philosophy, emotional intelligence, cultural anthropology, and a health and medical model. The app is already functional and available for download. This second phase focuses on enhancing user experience, improving interface responsiveness, refining the AI/ML reasoning engine, and deepening philosophical content. Each volunteer will be assigned a distinct enhancement area following our one-task-per-volunteer principle to ensure clarity, accountability, and measurable impact. Objective: MoralityCode Content Development Online volunteers will develop new content to enrich the MoralityCode app’s moral reasoning database by integrating diverse philosophical, theological, ethical, and cultural-anthropological insights. This role ensures the platform reflects global cultural realities, spiritual sensitivity, and inclusive moral guidance for users from all backgrounds. Estimated Workload The assignment involves the creation of 20 structured moral dilemmas or ethical scenarios, each written as a narrative case study for AI moral reasoning training. Each scenario is expected to be approximately 300–500 words in length, with an average of about 400 words per scenario. Tasks Each online volunteer will be responsible for producing structured ethical content for the MoralityCode AI, with the following scope: • Develop 20 moral dilemmas or ethical scenarios, each designed as a structured narrative case study for AI moral reasoning training, following a consistent tagging and schema system. • Each scenario should reflect diverse global cultural contexts, incorporating real-world social, philosophical, or community-based situations across different traditions and settings. • Integrate ethical reasoning grounded in philosophical, theological, and anthropological perspectives, ensuring balance, inclusivity, and intercultural understanding. • Ensure all scenarios follow a structured storytelling and tagging framework, including classification across Tradition, Ethical Framework, Theme, Tension Type, and Context categories to support database filtering and AI training. • Ensure scenarios are suitable for AI training by presenting clear moral tension, contextual depth, and multiple valid interpretations rather than a single “correct” answer. • Maintain cultural sensitivity, moral neutrality, and respect for spiritual and worldview diversity across all content. Content Expectations • Each dilemma should be approximately 300–500 words (around 400 words on average). • Scenarios should be written as brief narrative case studies, suitable for integration into an AI moral reasoning database. • Each story must include structured elements such as scenario description, key ethical concepts, and guiding reflection questions, following the MoralityCode story schema. • Content must reflect global diversity, intercultural understanding, and ethical clarity without bias toward any single cultural or religious framework. • Online volunteers will collaborate with the AI development team to ensure alignment with ethical logic structures, tagging taxonomy, and anthropological principles used in AI training systems. Key Outcomes: • A culturally enriched, morally grounded, user-friendly, and emotionally intelligent MoralityCode Mobile App. • Strengthened AI reasoning integrating philosophical, theological, ethical, and anthropological perspectives. • Richer and more diverse moral content fostering global cultural awareness and ethical engagement. • Increased intercultural understanding embedded within the app’s moral database. All external outreach, release management, and organizational coordination will be handled by the Action Lab for Development Association's internal team. Each online volunteer must have a laptop and a stable internet connection, participate in weekly coordination meetings held via Zoom or Google Meet every Thursday from 1:00–1:30 PM UTC..
