Background:
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
In Cameroon, UN Women is currently preparing its new Strategic Note for the period 2027–2031, which will be aligned with the UN Women Strategic Plan, the UNSDCF, and national priorities. This Strategic Note will provide the national framework for UN Women’s work for the next five years. It will focus on four key impact areas: Governance and Participation in Public Life; Economic Empowerment and Resilience; Ending Violence Against Women and Girls; and Peace and Security, Humanitarian Action and Disaster Risk Reduction. It will articulate how UN Women will leverage its triple mandate—normative support, UN system coordination, and operational activities—to mobilize urgent and sustained action for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, and to contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. Given the diversity of the portfolio and its expanding geographical and thematic scope, strong programmatic management and coordination will be essential to ensure internal coherence and maximize impact.
