About the Position 

WorldFish is seeking to engage an Intern (Facilities Management) who will support the Facilities team in day-to-day facilities operations, including preventive maintenance coordination, vendor supervision, and record keeping ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained workplace.

At the same time, this internship is designed to provide structured learning and practical exposure to facilities management practices, enabling the intern to develop technical, analytical, and coordination skills within a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining and updating the asset register, including tagging, classification, and documentation, while gaining understanding of asset lifecycle management.
  • Support the collection and recording of utility consumption data (e.g., electricity, water) and assist in preparing basic monthly summaries to understand usage trends.
  • Assist in logging, tracking, and closing work orders, gaining exposure to facilities workflows, response timelines, and service coordination.
  • Support coordination of vendors and contractors, including scheduling, site access, and monitoring work progress, while learning basic contract and service management practices.
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks under supervision, focusing on understanding safety procedures, tools, and standard maintenance practices.
  • Support workspace setup, furniture coordination, and updating layout records to understand space utilization and planning.
  • Assist in routine safety checks and reporting, developing awareness of workplace safety standards and compliance requirements.

Requirements

This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:  

  • The candidate will either have obtained or currently be working towards obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Building Services / Building Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Property / Estate Management or other related disciplines.
  • Candidates pursuing relevant coursework or certifications may also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of Facilities Management, Building Services, or Engineering principles.
  • Foundational knowledge in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Maintenance concepts.
  • Strong interest in operations, maintenance systems, and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to learn hands-on technical tasks under supervision.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with internal teams and vendors.
  • Willingness to develop practical skills in a structured facilities environment.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.

Location and Duration

The successful interns will be based at WorldFish Headquarters in Penang, Malaysia. The internship will run for a duration of up to 5½ months. This opportunity is open exclusively to Malaysian applicants. Interviews are expected to take place as soon as possible and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and invited to attend.
