    Introduction

UNDP Viet Nam is commissioning a National Consultant to support the integration of NBCS and gender equality in ecotourism and rural agricultural tourism initiatives.

Women are encouraged to bid. Preference will be given to equally technically qualified women.

    Country: Viet Nam

    Period of assignment/services: May 2026 - March 2028

    Overall objective:

The objectives of this consultancy are to:

    - Assess current status and provide recommendations to improve NBET and rural agricultural tourism in the three locations, ensuring alignment with UNDP Social and Environmental Standards (SES), NBCS, and the project’s Gender Equality Strategy.

    - Analyze potential NBET and agricultural tourism models that enhance natural resource conservation and secure sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

    - Develop gender-sensitive, contextually relevant knowledge products that integrate environmental safeguards, NBCS, and social considerations into tourism models across the three locations.

    - Lead the design and formalization of women-led Communities of Practice (CoPs), convening practitioners, government agencies, tourism entrepreneurs, and local stakeholders in the target areas.

    - Support the development of bankable business plans for selected ecotourism enterprises to improve local resilience, increase incomes, and foster sustainable ocean-based livelihoods.

    - Ensure women, especially from rural and ethnic minority communities, lead CoP governance and decision-making to foster an enabling environment for women’s leadership in sustainable tourism.

    - Facilitate the CoP’s sustainability and action plans, creating mechanisms to share best practices and innovations in biodiversity conservation, gender equality, and sustainable livelihoods.

    - Facilitate regular CoP operations and monitor pilot projects to support women-led SMEs and cooperatives in applying SES and NBCS standards across the three project locations.
