Progressive Volunteers (PV) is a community-based organization founded in 2007 to address the critical needs of young people living in Kenya. PV is committed to developing comprehensive, long-term solutions that provide young people in high-risk environments with viable alternatives to poverty, unemployment, and violence. Through structured programs and community engagement, the organization works to nurture resilience, self-reliance, and sustainable development. Our vision is to build a strong, diverse, and committed network of volunteers who actively contribute to social and economic development across Kenya. We strive to cultivate a generation of empowered individuals capable of driving positive change within their communities. Our mission at Progressive Volunteers is to promote sustainable community development initiatives by collaborating with partners and leveraging the dedication and skills of volunteers. In alignment with this mission, PV works closely with the Educate and Empower Organization, whose mission is to equip individuals and communities with knowledge, skills, and opportunities that foster self-reliance, leadership, and long-term socio-economic transformation. Together, we implement the Educate and Empower Change A Life Kenya Project, an initiative designed to uplift vulnerable youth and community members through education, mentorship, life skills training, and economic empowerment programs. The project aims to transform lives by creating pathways for personal growth, improved livelihoods, and active community participation. Through these combined efforts, PV and its partners seek to improve the living conditions of community members by building their capacity to grow independently and pursue a self-driven, responsible, and continuous learning journey.

Context

We are seeking dedicated support for our organization’s fundraising campaign aimed at advancing our education and entrepreneurial skills development projects. These initiatives are designed to empower individuals—especially young people—with the knowledge, competencies, and opportunities needed to achieve sustainable livelihoods and drive positive change within their communities. The overall objective of this effort is to strengthen our financial sustainability and ensure that adequate resources are available to effectively implement and expand our programs. By building a more resilient funding base, we can continue delivering impactful interventions and reaching more beneficiaries. To support this goal, we are looking for five experienced and highly committed volunteers to join our fundraising team as online volunteers. They will play a vital role in enhancing our outreach and resource mobilization efforts by: Developing comprehensive fundraising and outreach strategies to broaden our donor network and increase funding opportunities. Sharing innovative and practical fundraising ideas suited to both local and international contexts. Researching and identifying potential donor organizations, partners, and relevant funding opportunities aligned with our mission. Assisting in drafting professional communication materials, including letters, concept notes, and donor correspondence. Contributing to the development and writing of compelling project proposals and grant applications. Providing strategic guidance on donor engagement, including effective approaches for initiating and sustaining partnerships. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about social impact, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and are eager to contribute their expertise to meaningful community development initiatives. Important Note: Online Volunteers will not be required or permitted to directly solicit donations or funds from third parties. Their role is strictly limited to research, strategy development, advisory support, and content creation in line with ethical fundraising practices.

Task Description

We are seeking five highly motivated and experienced online volunteers to join our fundraising team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise toward strengthening our resource mobilization efforts and supporting impactful community initiatives. Selected online volunteers will play a key role in enhancing our fundraising capacity through the following responsibilities: Developing strategic outreach and fundraising plans to expand our donor base and increase financial sustainability. Generating and sharing innovative fundraising ideas tailored to diverse audiences and platforms. Conducting research on potential donors, including foundations, organizations, and grant-making institutions, as well as identifying relevant funding opportunities. Supporting the drafting of professional communication materials, including letters, emails, and donor correspondence. Contributing to the writing and development of high-quality project proposals and funding applications. Providing strategic advice and insights on donor engagement, including best practices for approaching, cultivating, and maintaining donor relationships. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about social impact, possess strong communication and research skills, and are eager to contribute to meaningful change through collaborative and innovative fundraising efforts. Online volunteers won't be asked to submit or receive any funds on our behalf.
