The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture on behalf of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks suitable Nigeria nationals for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan:

Position:    Research Associate- Data systems   

Contract:        3-year renewable contract                                    Location: Ibadan

DUTIES: 

• Contribute to livestock genetic data management systems (collation, processing and storage) and tools for use in the AADGG project.
• Support and develop existing tools and systems used for data capture.
• Respond to ICT support requests from field agents in a timely manner.
• Write procedures and software to import/ export data from/to appropriate database systems and share these for further analyses and interpretation.
• Implement and monitor Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and routines, including safe and remote back-up of database systems and tools.
• Keep up to date with the latest tools and resources, including open-source software, for the collection, management, storage and sharing of information.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of information collected and all relevant data management systems.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

BSC/HND in Information Systems, Database Management, Computer Science, or any other related courses with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

• The ideal candidate must:
• Possess experience in writing and maintaining Android applications.
• Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy, with proficiency in essential office software and digital tools.
• Showcase experience of ODK/ONA
• Utilize GitHub or other version control system.
• Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication and good personal organization skills.
• Have master experience in writing and maintaining API endpoints (Symphony framework).
